Kids Pro-D Classes

Cooking Classes: During these hands-on classes, each camp is packed with practical kitchen skills, food exploration, and opportunities for creativity and independence. Classes will spark curiosity and build confidence. With individual workstations, small class sizes, and expert guidance, each child gets the space and support they need to learn at their own pace.
These classes offer a calm, engaging environment where kids can focus, connect, and thrive. Our mission is to create a positive atmosphere that nurtures both skill and self-esteem. From understanding ingredients to preparing balanced meals, kids gain practical tools that go far beyond the kitchen. These classes support independence, nutrition awareness, and a lifelong love of real food.
We are also excited this year to expand our Pro-D classes to other areas- such as cartooning and other arts, all under the guidance of talented local industry professionals.
The Gibsons Public Market Programs Coordinator will also be on hand to supervise and support the sessions.
Please note: While we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment, our programs are not fully accessible. Due to staffing limitations, we are unable to provide one-on-one support or accommodate children who require individual care or assistance with personal needs.

Starting with Tues, Sept 8th 2026
 
 We are very excited to share that we will be offering our first-ever PRO-D Day Cartooning Workshop on the first PRO-D Day of the upcoming school year!

  • Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Gibsons Public Market
  • Who it’s for: Ages 8–12 (best suited for children who love to draw, enjoy focus, and are able to sit still for lessons. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept children who need additional one-on-one support for this workshop)
  • Our first-ever cartooning workshop—students will learn and practice techniques to enhance their cartoons with a local professional!
 

We are thrilled to welcome local professional cartoonist Matt Boismier, otherwise known as “The Tooninator”! 

Matt will guide students with tips, tricks, and techniques to help them expand and nurture their drawing talent. Check out his website HERE.

The day will include lots of breaks for playground time and outdoor fresh air, so students can get exercise while still enjoying their drawing time.

Price is $90 for the day just like our other Pro-D Day workshops. Materials will be supplied.

Once registration is received you will be sent a payment link if there’s room in the class (There are 10 spots in total). Once payment has been received, you will get a confirmation email securing your place! 

 

 

Chef Spotlight:

Our upcoming classes will be held in the Community Kitchen, led by Alex de Muinck, a talented chef currently working at The Station, a popular local tapas and wine bar in Lower Gibsons. Like so many, Chef Alex de Muinck found his passion for cooking as a child. This excitement for cooking has propelled him through an exciting career in some fantastic kitchens learning from some of the best chefs in the province. After spending a decade working in some top restaurants in the city he moved to Gibsons 2 years ago to work at Brassica, and now as the Chef de Cuisine at The Station Tapas and Wine Bar. Chef Alex is excited to share his wealth of knowledge in a fun and exciting way that will teach these classes how to make some delicious food!
