JAN JENSEN

Jan Jensen is an abstract painter and sculptor who has lived on the Sunshine Coast since 1992. Her work is influenced by her love of movement, her cultivated garden and the surrounding untamed mountains and ocean. Jensen studied Fine Art at Fraser Valley  University, then spent a transformative year at the Banff School of Fine Arts (now Banff Centre). Her large-scale installations have been exhibited in galleries across Canada, including Walter Phillips Gallery at the Banff Centre, Cartwright Street Gallery in Vancouver, and the Burlington Cultural Centre in Burlington, Ontario. New two dimensional works have recently been shown in the Gibsons Public Art Gallery, Sechelt’s Doris Crowston Gallery and the Maple Ridge Act Art Gallery.

JULIA DODGE

Julia Dodge is an artist from St. Catharines, Ontario who currently lives in Gibsons, BC. Julia finds images in nature that resonate with her. She prefers to work fairly large and in oils and enjoys portrait work and murals. Colour, composition, form and movement drive her work.

“This series started just before covid but now seems very appropriate. There are times when we wait, with a sense of stillness. The stillness brings a calm with it. It is a time of reflection and memory. Sometimes we are alone and sometimes we are with others. Hopefully this feeling comes across in the work.” – Julia
