As a not-for-profit society, we publish an annual report to the community sharing program highlights, challenges, achievements, and providing a brief financial update. We invite you to read our 2021 Report to Community by clicking the link below. Here’s an excerpt from our 2021 Report.
“Over the past year we collectively experienced a crisis that challenged us all to come together like never before. It caused the Gibsons Community Building Society, and our Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre, to pause, take stock, and re-imagine – through a constantly evolving public health lens – how we deliver programs, care for our ocean, create opportunities for social enterprise, offer safe public spaces, inspire the next generation of marine biologists, support our Public Market merchants and customers, engage our volunteers, donors and partners, raise much needed funds and, ultimately, continue to build community. Through it all, one thing stood out clearly – we are better when we work together.
While the economic impact of the pandemic will last for months, perhaps years to come – we can take pride knowing that as an expanded community, the Sunshine Coast is ready, willing, and able to reach out and step up. What a beautiful realization.
Gibsons Community Building Society also finds hope and inspiration in the outpouring of generosity, talent, commitment, and passion that flows from our growing network of donors, partners, volunteers and dedicated staff. We couldn’t do it without your support and, for this, we are sincerely grateful.
With optimism, we look toward recovery, building on our learnings to ensure an even stronger, more resilient and successful 2022.”
