About the Bursary
Placemaking is how communities come together to transform their shared public spaces into vibrant hubs of connection, celebration and care. It is the process through which we imbue places with meaning and ensure a sense of belonging for all. Gibsons Community Building Society believes that this process should be inclusive of the entire community; that we are all Placemakers and our contributions should not be subject to financial barriers.
For 2020, we are honouring Telus CEO Darren Entwistle, whose vision and leadership were critical in the establishment of Gibsons Public Market, by offering the Telus Placemaking Bursary. Its purpose is to ensure ongoing, inclusive, affordable access to Public Market gathering spaces for hosting events that build capacity and connection in our community.
Sunshine Coast residents and groups in financial need are encouraged to apply as needed. We define Events broadly: applications may include all types of activity ranging from meetings thru to fundraisers, performances, gatherings or film screenings.
Bursary amounts will range from partial to full relief of base rental fees.
Areas of Support
The 2020 Telus Placemaking Bursary has the following goals:

2. Showcase Coastal life while deepening connection between Coastal residents

Support will be awarded based on the degree to which a particular event contributes to fulfilling these goals.
